Where I’ve Been
“Half the fun of the travel is the esthetic of lostness.” – Ray Bradbury
I love to travel, and I have been lucky enough to travel to some amazing places. This page lists my biggest and best travel excursions to date, as well as containing links for when I have mentioned those trips on my blog.
Istanbul, Turkey, February 2013
We took a spontaneous jaunt over a three-day weekend to Istanbul. February might not be the most ideal time to visit the city, but we enjoyed having the amazing attractions to ourselves.
Italy, March 2011
I spent ten days touring Rome, Florence, and Venice with my parents. We saw so much: ruins of ancient Roman settlements, astonishingly grand churches, the rolling Tuscan countryside, the maze-like Venetian streets, and even modern art.

Honduras, March 2010
Marc and I spent almost two weeks in Honduras in March 2010. It was a much-needed vacation for both of us, especially as I had just finished taking the New York bar. We got our open water certification and visited a coffee and cardamom plantation, and we also got a chance to relax.
Paris & Rome, September 2009
My mom and I took a whirlwind trip to Europe in September 2009. We spent three days in Rome before hurrying over to spend three days in Paris. We had to keep an almost manic pace in order to see as much as possible, but we had a fabulous trip.

Southeast Asia, Summer 2008
After we took the bar exam in July 2008, Marc and I spent two months traveling around Southeast Asia. We started in Vietnam, then moved on to Laos, took a very brief stop in Myanmar, headed into Thailand, then popped over to Cambodia before heading down through Malaysia and ending in Singapore, finishing with an eight-hour layover/excursion in Seoul, South Korea. Needless to say, we saw so much while we were there!

New Zealand & Fiji, March 2008
As a 3L in law school, I helped lead an International Team Project (mentioned below in “Egypt”) to New Zealand. Our class studied a lot of interesting topics, including sheep farming and the extreme sport industry, and my group in particular researched issues affecting the Maori people. I found our topic fascinating, and we got to meet some incredibly interesting individuals. It certainly didn’t hurt that New Zealand is a beautiful country … or that we were able to take a stop-over in Fiji on the way home!
Guatemala, January 2008
Marc and I spent a week in Guatemala in January 2008. I didn’t know much about Guatemela before we visited, but it turned out to be one of my favorite destinations. We climbed a volcano, relaxed by a lake, spent time in the jungle, and saw the amazing temples at Tikal! (There was also an unintended overnight stop in Mexico City.)
China, August 2007
Marc and I spent a month in China in August 2007. We flew into Beijing and worked our way through the country, hitting Xi’an, Chengdu, the Yangtze River (on a “cruise”), Guilin, and Yangshao before leaving the mainland for Macau and Hong Kong.

Egypt, March 2007
My law school had a program called International Team Projects, in which a class would study various legal topics in a certain country, visit that country to conduct interviews, and then present a comprehensive report on what had been learned. The class is only available to second and third year students, and I was incredibly excited to see that Egypt was one of the choices when I was a 2L and eligible for the class. Egypt had long been one of my must-visit countries, so visiting in March 2007 was a dream come true!
Brussels, March 1999
For spring break during my junior year in high school, some friends and I visited our friend (and former exchange student) Maud in Brussels. We stayed with her for a week, and we also took a day trip to Amsterdam. Cate and I were also able to hop over to Germany to visit the family that we had stayed with in 1997.

Germany, August 1997
My fifth grade class was “learning” German, and we got German pen pals. My pen pal had a friend who wanted an American pen pal, so I matched her up with my friend Cate. Cate’s pen pal came to visit us in the United States in 1996, and her family offered to return the favor by inviting Cate to Germany. Somehow I got myself in on the deal, and Cate and I visited Germany for a month when we were fifteen years old. We did some traveling in Germany with the family, as well as took day trips to London and Paris.
