Happy New Year! We had a lovely evening ringing in 2013 with our friends, who graciously had us over for cocktails, cards, and playtime with their new puppy. (Thanks, friends!) There’s no better way to end one year and start a new one than with friends (and champagne).

Of course, I didn’t always value the low-key NYE …
oh, memories!
Thankfully, I’m not 23 anymore. That NYE culminated in some wrist-band party at some bar in Lincoln Park that I can visualize but not remember the name of, and ended with us (unsurprisingly) failing to get a cab when the bar closed and freezing because we were wearing open-toed sandals in Chicago in January.
This NYE, I was dressed much more sensibly and spent the evening re-learning how to play pitch and cuddling with an adorable puppy.
